Industry Connections Activities: Energy

Openly Collaborate and Incubate Solutions to Drive Trusted Adoption of New Tech Applications

The IEEE Industry Connections (IC) program helps incubate new standards by facilitating collaboration among interested stakeholders as they hone and refine their thinking on rapidly changing technologies. Check out the available Energy related activities.

Accelerating Deployment of Advanced Nuclear Power Generation

The goal of this activity is to develop a landscape and gap analysis towards recommendations and eventually guides and/or best practices where IEEE expertise can be leveraged to support the acceleration of the safe deployment of advanced nuclear power generation.

Open Data Center Initiative

Aims to bring together experts in the field of global data centers to accelerate the implementation of technological innovations.

Low Carbon Building Electrical Technology

Focus on low carbon building electrical technologies, including standards research and development in a variety of areas.

Green Hydrogen

The goal for this Industry Connections Committee would be to identify gaps in technology and standards related to the use of green hydrogen primarily in the electrical power and energy sector, and subsequently initiate follow-on activities to address identified gaps.

Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal (mCDR)

The ocean is essential for achieving sustainability. Ocean ecosystem services are being heavily used. Ocean industries need to be made sustainable. The ocean has large potential for climate solutions.

Energy and Water Nexus

The Energy Water Nexus focuses on the interdependency between energy and water and identifies opportunities to develop this emerging market space.

Specific Absorption Rate Measurement Systems

The goal of the activity is to collaborate with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Technical Committee (TC) 106 on recommendations for a Publicly Available Specification (PAS) for the validation of Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) measurement systems.

Evaluation of Absorbed Power Density From Millimeter Wave (mmWave) Devices

The International Electrotechnical Commission Technical Committee 106 and IEEE International Committee on Electromagnetic Safety will jointly develop a Technical Report on the scientific assessment procedures for absorbed power density of mmWave exposures from wireless devices.

Electric Energy Resources Interconnection Standards Collaborative (ISC)

The goal of this activity is to deliver IEEE 1547 standards to ready DERs with capabilities that enable future utilization with increasing DER penetrations and to support industry stakeholders in the adoption of these standards.

IEEE IoT Sensors Advisory Committee

Internet of Things (IoT) sensors have experienced explosive growth during the last decade and are poised for continued mass-scale adoption. This explosive growth has exposed issues that are beginning to negatively affect the adoption of IoT sensors in many industries.

Sustainable Maritime

The global maritime industry is facing significant challenges in moving towards more sustainable operational practices to align with international sustainable development goals.

Supply Chain and Asset Traceability for Electric Grid (SCATE)

The motivation for this IC activity is the increased focus on supply chain and asset traceability for electric grid components.

Sustainable Infrastructures and Community Development Program

An incubator to develop a global community, public presence, roadmaps and action plans around sustainable infrastructure and design, power sector transformation, and energy efficiency across IEEE. A focal point for activities, information and subject matter experts.

IEEE SA Energy Global Practice

Visit our Energy page to discover how the Energy Practice is a focal point for collaboration across the wide range of IEEE volunteer experts engaged in IEEE standards and related initiatives associated with energy topics, and provides linkage to the IEEE Societies, programs and conferences of interest to the energy community.
